Everyday I will be posting something on Human Beings. Being Humans/ Hawai'i Local.
This is a mini series showcasing local Maui citizens that are in support of the SHAKA Movement. And if you would like to get involved and share your voice, just fill out my contact form!
Why is the Shaka Movement important to you?
“When ignorance is our master, there is no possibility of real peace.” –The Dalai Lama.
The Shaka Movement is important to me because the results of chemical agribusiness are directly negatively affecting everyone’s quality of life. Since eating GMO food there have been irreversible changes to the genetics of our gut flora. There have also been genetic changes to the soil microbes on land where GMO crops are grown. We have been exposed to pesticides and herbicides in the air, water and soil. The bottom line is we know that it is dangerous to let these things go on because we can’t see the long-term ramifications clearly enough to say that it is safe. The Shaka Movement recognizes that it is important to educate everyone about what changes are taking place in agriculture so that we can stand up for the Earth.
